Marketfeed provides NeoVision Hypersystems, Inc. hosted webHeatmaps® solutions. Marketfeed will integrate and customize Heatmaps for your website and for your information display requirements.

Heatmaps® are live "pictures" of financial information used by leading traders, analysts and portfolio managers. webHeatmaps® brings Heatmaps® visualization technology to the public Internet and the corporate Intranets.

Heatmaps organize financial instruments or positions into color-coded cells or spots. Using live data, Heatmaps perform calculations in real-time and display the results as color. They are called "Heatmaps" because they show what is Hot. Users can set visual alerts to highlight important opportunities, critical information or current results. Heatmaps focus time and attention on the few pieces of information that are most important at this moment.

webHeatmaps® is the expansion of the Heatmaps technology to the Internet space. webHeatmaps® are available in several popular formats, including Active Server Pages (ASP), a Web Server Application, and a Java Client.

Now Heatmaps can be embedded into trading, information and portal sites, or can be deployed as small, persistent portals back to these sites.

webHeatmaps® allow website operators to:
  • Attract new users and promote registration
  • Differentiate their site from competitors by providing a unique reporting tool
  • Provide easy to understand displays
  • Add value - inform users quickly and facilitate prompt action
  • Create a front-end interface to other pages on their site such as news, graphs and order entry
  • Navigate through proprietary reports
  • Retain users, and cause them to return frequently

webHeatmaps® provide NeoVision's visualization technology in two forms:
  • Snapshot webHeatmaps® — Heatmaps rendered when a page is loaded, using website-defined content and layouts. The page must be refreshed in order to display updated information.
  • Updating webHeatmaps® — A Java-based technology that is dynamically updated in real-time or with delayed data from the web host.

Snapshot webHeatmaps®
No plug-ins or Java is required to view Snapshot webHeatmaps®. Snapshot webHeatmaps® are a server component that outputs simple HTML and DHTML. An ActiveX component for Microsoft's Active Server Pages (ASP) has been released, and a JavaBean for Sun Java Server Pages (JSP) will be available soon.

webHeatmaps® displays can show results for a single calculation (often 1 Day Percent Change) and present host-defined Popups for each instrument, providing quick access to additional information. Within a display, instruments can be gathered by groups and/or sorted by website defined criteria. The system comes complete with the installable component, sample configuration files, and detailed documentation describing how to customize the displays to meet your users' needs.

Updating webHeatmaps®
To view webHeatmaps® live, visit www.nasdaq.com, where you can see Heatmaps of trading activity of the Nasdaq-100 and a set of the top Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).

Updating webHeatmaps® are Java applets that can be embedded in a web page or detached in their own window. The displays offer the publisher a high degree of customizability, including the ability to define a right-click menu with multiple destinations. For example, a web site publisher could configure a webHeatmap to launch their one-day-chart page on left click, with a right-click menu that launches their pages for news, research or trade executions. Consumers who view webHeatmaps are likely to have a Heatmap of their portfolio running throughout much of the day, which means publishers can use the click-throughs on webHeatmaps as a portal back to their site.

Updating webHeatmaps® includes a data server that connects to your ODBC-compliant database or COM data source and provides optimized, low-bandwidth quote updates to all connected Applet clients.
